Getting Member Cuts to Persist through Copying/Mirroring/Arraying

Framing elements can be cut by using the Cut Geometry tool against a reference plane. The only problem seems to be, that if you copy that member, the cut disappears:

 

Depending on how many cuts you've made and how many times you need to duplicate the member, reapplying the cuts can be pretty tedious. So how do you get the modifications to persist?

Instead of copying just the member, copy the reference plane too:

This will allow the cut to persist through a copy, mirror, or array. I hope this is helpful!
