When creating an adaptive component family and including point elements, you have 2 additional options for a placement point & shape handle point:
Placement Point
Represents the order the points will be placed on component insertion. You can change the number by clicking on the number and entering a new value.
Shape Handle Point
This point will not be used during placement, but instead will be made available as a shape handle after the component is placed.
Along with this, after you insert your placement points on a host element you should see a Hosted Parameter line when the point is selected. This value ranges between 0 and 1 for the start \ end of the host element and represents the exact location where the point falls. This allows for fine tune adjustment to the location if needed.
