Revit may not be really “CAD” but there is a need to control and manage things in the product for all users in an office.
Revit comes with a nice utility for to manage the display or limit the display of certain items within the product. The utility is included on the DVD media for Revit or is located in the Download folder if you have installed from the web. Typically, the utility is stored on your machine here:
C:\Program Files\Revit Architecture 2009\Download\Utilities\Common\CADManagerControlUtility\
It should really be called the BIM Manager control utility for Revit but I digress.
The utility lets you control access to the Communications center, Subscription center (logging a Support case), Customer Involvement Program, and Customer Error Reports feature for a machine. I always recommend that you keep everything turned on, but that’s the Product Support tech in me. The tools provide you with valuable information and Communication Center is probably the most valuable. We provide news on Updates and new subscription benefits as well. You can control if these items are enabled right from this utility.
For the CAD (or BIM) Manager in everyone, let me know if you think this tool could help you.
