Have you ever wanted to change the line weight of a drafting pattern that was assigned to a wall as the cut pattern like this?
This is the same wall type, but I've changed the line weight of the top wall's cut pattern. This is a little tricky to pull off.
For model patterns in a elevation view, Revit uses the Line weight of 1 to determine the weight of the pattern, so you can change the Line Weight for number 1 and the model pattern will change.
For walls in plan view showing a cut pattern, it is quite different:
Revit uses the Wall category in Object Styles, the Projection Line Weight, to determine the Line weight of the cut pattern.
However, in order for Revit to recognize the Line Weight for the Cut Pattern on the wall that you set in Object Styles, the Wall or walls must actually have the Cut Pattern overridden. You cannot just override the color of the pattern, you have to override the pattern type itself.
When you override the wall instance (right click on the wall and select Override Graphics in View - > By Element) Cut Pattern, just set it to same cut pattern that is defined in the wall type if you want the same pattern.
So, by changing the Projection Line Weight setting in Object Styles for the Wall Category and overriding a walls cut pattern you can show a walls cut pattern in a different line weight.
Some Notes:
- You can modify the Wall category Cut Pattern in a views Visibility and Graphics while making the Line Weight change in Object Styles for the Walls Projection Line Weight to change all the Walls in a View as well (this will change all walls in the view to include the pattern you specify).
- I have not been able to find a method to control the line weight of the cut pattern at the Wall Type level yet, and this does not work for individual wall layers, only on walls with one cut pattern applied to the entire wall.
- As a alternative (might be better), you can control the line weight of a pattern in a filled region, so you could use that here if you need to as well. Filled regions have a setting on the region type properties that let you control the line weight of that regions type.
Let me know what you think of this or if you found any good ways to control the line weight of the cut pattern on a wall.
Great advice. But none of this messing about should be necessary at all...

In RAC2010,when I insert a structural column on wall, the plane dispaly is right. But if I insert a beam on the columns, the wall display is wrong(The columns and the wall will interfere and pass through each other,).What's up with this? To now, no solution has been. Please help me,Many thanks.
