With Beams and Columns it's pretty straightforward how to adjust the Horizontal Projection parameter of their Analytical Models: Select the element, enter its Properties, scroll down to the bottom, and there it is. If you do the same for structural floors, you only see the option to edit the Vertical Projection. So how do you edit the Horizontal Projection?
With floors, you control the projection based on the boundary lines. As an example, let's say you would like the analytical model of the slab to match the Grid line rather than the outer boundary:
To do so, first Edit the slab. Then select the sketch line at the area you want to adjust. In the line's Properties, you'll see Analytical Model > Horizontal Projection. Here you can set the analytical model to Auto-Detect, the sketch line itself, named reference planes, or grids.
So here I can select 1 for Grid 1, Finish the sketch, and voila!
And as a note, this works with angled planes too:
Hope this helps!
Thanks Kathryn,
It would be great if we could remove analytical lines from very small openings in floors and walls. No structural engineer would ever consider including small HVAC openings in their FEM calculations, and per now there seems to be no other way to exclude these than to delete them in the analytical program after export.
Have a nice day!

It also does the same thing if you are adding in slight depressions. I can take away 1/2" (12mm) of the concrete and I get analytical lines as if it was an opening. Would be nice to be able to adjust that information as well.
