Thinking back last night, my first experience with computer graphics was on an Apple IIe in elemetry school.
I went to school in a little mid-western town (Menasha, WI) and they had just put in their first computer lab. They had converted an old room that was behind the school stage, a tiny little room with maybe 10 computers.
Once a week our class (3rd or 4th grade I think) would get to send half the class to the lab while the other half did... I don't know what, I always choose the computer lab. The little turtle drawing on the screen is all I remember doing. Other kids played games (like Oregon Trail), I drew with the turtle on that Apple IIe.
I hadn't thought about the turtle in a long time, so this morning I did a little searching. Turns out, I was actually programming. That little Turtle on a Apple IIe started me down on this path. I am grateful.
I blame it all on Steve.
